In business since 1990 and no domain name?

4 days ago my client attempted to lock a new contract with a Hotel in Hawaii that’s shopping for a more affordable solution to restoring their used hollowware. My client offered an affordable solution to restore their hollowware items on the phone but got rejected due to the fact that his company didn’t have a website. The General Manager of the hotel wanted to review my clients company and rates on his website and compare them to the competitor’s website and rates.
The competition had a simple website and that’s all they needed to get the advantage over my client.
My client has been in business since 1990 and never registered a single dot com! It’s like that company I contacted several months ago that argued that they’ve been in business since 1949 and don’t need a domain name.
Goes to show you not everyone is smart enough or educated about the value of virtual real estate.
My client was given a 48 hour deadline to submit a website link to the Hotel Manager or lose out on the new contract. Within 24 hours I managed to develop an 8 page website and link him to a Facebook page, twitter account, google + account and few other social networking sites. I optimized the site and designed a unique layout and published his website using his newly registered dot com.
Within 24 hours of emailing the Hotel Manager with his new website, he scored a new contract with the Hotel.
The competitor’s website lacked design and I use that against them. I designed a professional and flashy website for my client and that’s all it took to score a new contract.
Goes to show you how important website development is! How could you be in business and not have a domain name and a website?

When will these companies learn. Yes they may have gotten by without an online presence ten years, hell even five years ago but today’s consumer even commercial, b2b consumers expect to see a measure of professionalism which even a clean minimalist website provides.
Congrats on making it happen.
